"I normally go volunteer at pasta night with BanffLife. It’s a good way to meet people and make new friends! It’s always fun to volunteer there! I also helped out in one of the community lunch and at the Christmas dinner. It’s so nice that people can get to eat cheap meals and have the chance to not be alone and meet people from around the world. When I first got here it was really hard for me to make friends and the time was really close to Christmas so I was a bit scared I was gonna spend it alone but it didn’t happen, because these kind of events helped me a lot! BanffLife is a great organization, I love how they want to help young people to experience Banff at the most by organizing affordable activities or sometimes even free!”

Lauren Fisher, Head Office

Lauren has won a $50 Gift Certificate to Beatnik Salon! Lauren highlights the ways that small, individual efforts can have a far-reaching impact on the community and one's self.

“What: Banff Life – Community Christmas Dinner – I was involved in serving food and cleaning up after the event finished Why: Over the years I have volunteered for numerous Banff Life initiatives. I love how you feel being involved in these events – You feel a great sense of community, get to meet awesome people with similar interests and a feeling that you are part of a larger community. People who attend these events are so grateful to those that take the time to volunteer and it’s my way of giving back in a small way to the great town we live in.”

Anne Geerts, Canmore Ski Lodge

Anne has won a $50 Gift Certificate to Beatnik Salon! Anne generously dedicates her time to honour and support those that participate in local events, adn identifies volunteering as a source of positive energy and connection to others.

Read Anne's entry below:

“I'm Anne, working and living in Canmore for Caribou properties. I've volunteered multiple times last year for various events. I volunteered for 3 races: the Rocky Mountain Soap Run, Melissa Road Race and the Canmore Race. At these 3 events I have worked various positions. I've worked at the water station, helped clean up after the event or was helping out with rerouting traffic. In the summer I also helped at the Banff yoga festival where I helped the entire day from getting workshops set up to getting people to the right destinations for their meditations or other practices. At Christmas I helped out the BanffLife organization with the Christmas dinner providing a space and meal for people from all over the community. Volunteering for me is a way to connect to the community and to make new friends. Without volunteers most of these events would not be possible. I think it's important to give back as it gives positive energy to people's life and your own.”

Thank You and Well-Done

A big thank you to all who entered the contest! Banff Lodging Co. is grateful to be able to work with such generous individuals like you who are committed to giving back to their communities.
